Fabian Cheama of the Zuni Pueblo

Fabian Cheama is part of a small group of the true master carvers at Zuni. Fabian and his halfbrother Dan Quam as well as his brothers in the Cheama family, and one sister are all very talented. What seems to make Fabian the best in this group is his sincere dedication to excellence in his work. He is probably one of the least commercialized of all these carvers because his low output of carvings. While it may be small in comparison to others such as his brother, Wilfred, it is truly among the greatest and best of all carvings being done at Zuni today.
